The YLIA scholarship was created in 2006. With so many young leaders in Winnipeg, United Way’s Youth Relations Council has awarded four recipients each year since. The Council is happy to announce the recipients of this year’s scholarship.
Deanna Ng has been involved with CNIB since birth, volunteeing since 2006. Deanna also focuses on social justice through the Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians.
Lindsey Brown began volunteering with Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg in the Power Up! progam, and is now employed as a Project Facilitator. She also organizes a mentoring program for young girls.
Jessica Edwards is involved in the Voices program at Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg, aiming to spark positive change within the child welfare system.
Evan Bowness volunteers in the Literacy Program at the John Howard Society, working with inmates from the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
This year’s recipients have demonstrated their leadership and commitment to the city by volunteering, participating and working at various United Way agency partners. Congratulations to Deanna, Lindsey, Jessica and Evan! Your contributions are so valuable.
