So far, United Way has raised just over $8 million during its 2008 fundraising campaign, thanks to the generosity of thousands of donors and the hard work of volunteers! That means we’re well on our way toward this year’s total goal of $17.8 million.

Our own YRC member Ashley Lam teamed up with her younger sister Cie-Kay to host the Report Session where this exciting news was announced on Friday. As a five-year United Way volunteer and a recent Pharmacy grad, Ashley knows the value of community involvement. Cie-Kay, a Sisler High School student, is following her example as a brand new member of United Way’s Student Leadership Conference Planning Committee.

One of the essentials for a good life is an education – something that requires a lot of hard work and support. United Way invests in programs and strategies that help young people achieve their potential so they can pursue an education and do what they want to do in life. Role models, mentors, and opportunities to try new things – like organizing a student conference – all contribute to a young student’s success.
