My name is Leigh-Anne Bowles. I have been working at United Way as the Program Manager of Youth Relations for just over a month. It has been a wonderful experience so far and I look forward to everything yet to come.
For the past 11 years I was working as an EA at Kelvin High School. It was during that time I became involved with United Way through the Student Leadership Conference and Youth Day of Caring. Our United Way Group at Kelvin also initiated “Pink Houses” and painted a home in Point Douglas this past June.
Spending time with young people who generate ideas of how to give is so inspirational. Their energy, dedication and enthusiasm are contagious. I have learned from my experiences at the school that the youth are incredible contributors to the common good and have within them unlimited potential.
I am excited to be learning how the youth involvement in the United Way is continuously growing and motivated by their dedication to involving a broader community. Being a part of the United Way experience is truly an honor.
